Valentine's Day

After a quick search on Google I ended up on the Smithsonian page explaining the origins of Valentine's.

They go in extensive length, but I just skimmed over it and this is what i take of it:

"Valentine's Day, in fact, originated as a liturgical feast to celebrate the decapitation of a third-century Christian martyr, or perhaps two."

This really lines up with my spirit today actually.... But for some reason I actually like my hubbie and am not going to chop his head off... Bummer... I will just stay at work doing not much and trying to get my mood back to shape!

Might go crazy and leave early to go get my eyebrows done and buy some chocolates as a gift. I will even buy the ones that have mint on them so there is no risk of me eating them. Wanted to go watch the Green Book movie, but the theater i want to go to only screens it at 4:30 pm today and that is kind of late...

That being said... Happy Valentine's to whomever is reading this, and hope your head keeps firmly attached to your body!

Throw back Thursday

Radio station at the office is only playing music from the 70/80's. And it's GREAT! Singing along with most of them, remembering some that i used to love and just haven't heard in a while.
Odd how those were the songs that stuck to me. The ones I listened to while growing up.

Richard Marx with Right Here Waiting playing at the moment. Off to do some sing along since I am briefly alone at the office.

04/25/2018

Holiday in Portugal today! But it seems that independence day in the US is a different one, so I'm stuck at work today too... Bosses are both out, mini boss still isn't in. So I am working the bare minimum, just to keep things going. The lack of will is overwhelming. Of course that isn't different from any given day...

TBT - movies from 20 y ago

The year was 1998. The world was full of promise and opportunities. At least to a teenager girl!
It was also the year when my dad and I started going to the movies together. Don't remember why we stopped doing it, but i remember we did it during that year, and I loved it.
These were some of the titles that caught my eye from the 3,689 titles posted on IMDb:

Tom Hanks to the rescue... Literally! This may have been an awesome movie, considering reviews and what not, but... not my cup of tea.

Let me just take a second to admit this movie is 20 years old. Ben Stiller getting his ding dong stuck in a zipper and the "hair gel" scene are the only memories of it I have. I was a teenager, what is your excuse?

You try and watch this with your dad and not cry!

The soundtrack... 💗

And that will be all for this trip down memory lane! Many other titles rattled my memory, but I am off to find a space heater for a job site!

TBT - movies

What movies released in January 1997 do I remember watching?

Not many...

From the 11 page list of movies released, it came down to:

Speed 2... Not a great sequel, but Jason Patric is really cute.

Evita. Never really watched the full movie, mostly because I have an unnatural dislike for Madonna.

I haven't really watched this one, but it will now go into my list of movies to watch. And all due to my untold love from Viggo Mortensen...

TBT - hit song

According to the website http://www.bobborst.com/, the hit song during this period in 1997 was...

...

drum roll...

This was the hit song from December 1st 1996 to February 15th 1997.

I can still sing along to it, even after all these years.

And why chose this year? Because 1997 was a year of changes for me. I had to grow up real quick and become a grown up. No time or chance to be a teenager. I was 14 then and had to act the part of a 30y old. This was 20y ago. I feel more like a teenager today than i got to then.

Anyway, found this was a fun thing to look up!
